Guys, I’m a REAL healthy living blogger now! Meet my new princess, Cocoa:
Now I’m just missing a professional camera, gorgeous husband that runs marathons with me, an endless supply of superb recipes with incredible photos to match, and a six pack. One day
The SPCA of Central Florida hosted its annual Wiggle Waggle Walk on Saturday. Registrants walked a mile loop around Cranes Roost park sporting their fabulous furry friends to support the dogs and cats at the SPCA. The event consisted of games, costume contests, family entertainment and multiple vendors!
Her adoption was quite spur-of-the-moment, actually — meaning I went to work as a vendor at this event and came home with a dog.
Honestly, how could I say no to that face?!
My princess is a 7-year-old purebred Toy Poodle with a whole lot of sass, just like her mama. I knew I wanted her from the moment I held her — she melted right in my arms and laid her tiny head right on my heart. To say she stole my heart is an understatement. Her previous family had to give her up for adoption because the husband lost his job and they needed to relocate to a different area that wasn’t dog-friendly.
The SPCA of Central Florida was very helpful when it came to the adoption process. It’s clear they care about the animals that come into the shelter. I could sense the genuine emotional attachment between the employees and animals that were up for adoption. The adoption of this little furball/love of my life (and any other animal at the SPCA) includes the following:
- Spay or neuter surgery
- Internal & external parasite treatment
- Microchip identification
- Initial vaccinations including distemper, intranasal bordatella
- Free visit to their full service Veterinary Clinic
- Rabies vaccination
- 2 tickets to SeaWorld Orlando
SO yes, they pretty much paid me to take Cocoa since SeaWorld tickets alone cost an arm and a leg.
By the way, I never understood the dog picture obsession until I got Cocoa. I adopted her Saturday and already have 100+ photos of her in my phone.
We took her to the dog park this weekend and she gets along GREAT with other dogs. She was also unfazed by my parent’s male dog, Peanut, who greeted her with a nice friendly butt-sniffing. Oh, and you know about my obsession with giraffes, right? Check out the outfit she’ll be sporting this Halloween, courtesy of Petco:
She is going to be one spoiled girl, and I’m sure you’ll be seeing much more of her on the blog!
In fitness news:
Thank you for all your sweet congratulatory comments about my new job as a group exercise instructor! You never cease to make me smile on daily basis, my friends I’ll be teaching my first group exercise classes this week. I’m most nervous about subbing for a yoga instructor on Sunday. Let’s just say I’ll be doing lots of downward facing dogs in preparation this week.
Have a fabulous Hump Day Eve!
